We are a family-run hotel in Stoke Fleming with exciting plans to develop our product and guest experience. Leaving careers in five-star hotels in London, Myles and Alex moved to the area and acquired Stoke Lodge Hotel at the end of 2023. In January, during our annual closure, we completed a bar refurbishment; we are excited to continue developing our food and beverage offering, and are looking for a Sous Chef to come on this journey with us.

We are passionate about delivering great food and service and are looking for someone who shares this passion.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with menu development
  • Assisting with menu planning and inventory/supply management
  • Offering suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchen’s performance
  • Producing high quality, well-presented dishes
  • Overseeing and supervising kitchen staff
  • Training new team kitchen employees on standard’s and regulations
  • Monitoring kitchen area and staff to ensure stations are kept clean and comply with food safety standards
  • Ensuring all food products to be prepared are of good quality and are not expired
  • Addressing and resolving complaints or concerns quickly

Education and Experience:

  • GCSEs or equivalent
  • Formal culinary training would be beneficial but not a necessity
  • 5 years kitchen experience
