– Super small 3*** private hotel in the middle of the Rosamunde Pilcher countryside. The young new owners have many innovative plans. Very nice and competent staff, excellent warm atmosphere. Very good beds. Very good food. We will be back!

– The experience was fantastic and I have come home feeling very relaxed. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The new owners were incredibly generous and were thinking of and trying out lots of great ideas. The food was delicious and every need and allergy was catered for. – We chose this dog friendly hotel for a two night break before moving on to our holiday rental. The hotel is in a fabulous location with sea views. Specific rooms are allocated for guests with dogs. We stayed in room 26 which was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bed’s mattress was divine and we slept really well. Our vegetarian breakfasts and evening meal were delicious – compliments to the chef! All the staff are welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The owners are in the process of renovating and we imagine it will look fabulous when it’s complete. Altogether a great stay and thoroughly recommended.

– Lovely hotel and very friendly staff throughout. Hotel was clean and had a lovely atmosphere. Great location and close to excellent beach. Plenty to do and see in locality, and great facilities at the hotel – hope to return for a longer visit soon.

– We stayed here for a 4 day family gathering and birthday party, the hotel was great and the staff were excellent, the chef and his team did an excellent job the food was of a very high standard. Well done all of us had a great time and would recommend it to everybody.

– This is a gorgeous, family run hotel. It’s ideally situated for exploring South Devon. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The food at the hotel is excellent. Beds are comfortable.

– Stayed here for 4 days for family reunion and a 70th birthday. The staff were amazing. The rooms were of a good size lovely sea view . The beds were very large and comfortable. There was everything you needed. Two lovely pools. Excellent food. The staff made the whole stay excellent. Thank you Alex , Myles and all the staff and not forgetting Willow the dog.

– A very warm welcome from friendly staff at this delightful hotel close to Dartmouth and on the Coastal path. A beautiful part of the world we hadn’t visited before. Comfortable room with a great view over the sea. Excellent breakfast as was the light lunch we ordered. We’ll be back!

– We celebrated my husband’s 60th at the Stoke Lodge Hotel. We had exclusive use! The rooms were clean and comfortable – the linen and mattresses particularly nice! The food was outstanding – everything ranging from the delicious cooked breakfasts (avocado, poached eggs on sourdough toast being my favourite!) to a varied buffet of sandwiches, mini quiches, sausage rolls and delicious lemon tarts and brownies, to a full-blown 3 course dinner. All of a very high quality! The staff are very attentive and professional. We created fabulous memories there! HUGE THANKS to the Stoke Lodge hotel and their team! We will definitely be back again!

– Nothing short of outstanding – highly recommended! We loved the hotel, the room, the breakfast, the bar, the outside seating. Much more than that, Alex was simply wonderful all weekend. Also we were severely delayed on our journey down but still received a very warm welcome despite the lateness. And when I was unexpectedly ill there was a cup of tea brought to the room within minutes, plus other help including with food which made all the difference. Such lovely hosts!

– We have just returned after a two night stay for my husband’s birthday. It was one of the best breaks we have ever had, from the moment we walked in to reception we knew it was going to be wonderful. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and more. The chef is the best i’ve experienced and we dined both nights and felt thoroughly spoilt! A birthday cake was brought out for my husband, candles lit with the lad serving singing “Happy Birthday”. Fantastic service from the friendly restaurant staff, who not only serve but were full of local knowledge to enhance our stay. We used both the indoor and outdoor pool,sauna and jacuzzi all were in good clean condition with toiletries and extra towels supplied for poolside changing rooms. Our room king size sea facing with an extra bed for our daughter was large, with an immaculate bathroom, the huge bed was so comfy with good quality bedding. The room was also decorated with birthday banners and balloons on request. The only problem we had was that we did not want to leave and we will definately be returning for more visits in the future. Perfect relaxing break that couldn’t have gone any better. A huge Thank you to you all for making our weekend and a special birthday one we will never forget.

– After staying at the Stoke Lodge for many years this was our first visit since Myles, Alex and family took the helm. The experience was as good, if not better, than ever. Friendly, easy going and helpful staff and the food was exquisite. Add that to the hotels superb location you have the perfect escape. – We popped in after a long walk from Dartmouth, the lady working in the bar was very friendly and professional, the lunch from bar menu was superb, some interesting dishes, we hope to return soon. The hotel has been updated a bit since se last visited.

– Looking to treat ourselves for Christmas, we booked at Stoke Lodge Hotel. Less expensive than other places we looked at, but there was something organized for every day, a lot of effort had been put in, so even better value. We found it to be clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful. Myles, Alex and both sets of parents put their all into being great hosts, presents at Christmas breakfast, escorting guests to Midnight Mass, Christmas morning on the beach, coastal path walk to Dartmouth and lifts back if you only wanted to do one way and a fun quiz. It is also obvious that they are making their home here and get involved in village life. A special mention for the fantastic food, which we enjoyed every bit of. We know there is an ongoing extensive refurbishment and we wish them all the very best with their plans and new family. Hope to visit again before too long.

– Lovely 3 night break with our dog. Very comfortable hotel,exceptional food/dining, wonderful choice for breakfast, attractive & comfortable bar & lounge. Double room with sea view, large bed & a sofa, comfortable & good quality linen. Heated indoor pool was lovely & very warm. Pleasant location & we imagine lovely in summer with outdoor pool & seating. If I could make one negative comment it would be that the shower in the en suite was rather dated & over the bath, apart from that , a lovely stay……and our dog was made very welcome. Staff helpful & friendly.The village is very pretty with a shop & easy access to Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands etc.

– Easy to book – staff were very helpful on the phone. They warned us not to follow sat nav taking us down Venn Lane when arriving, for which we are very grateful. Pictures look great, and the reality is great too. We were delighted to be greeted by friendly staff on arrival, and see that the hotel was well-kept and beautiful. The setting is so pretty – on a slight hill with sea views and nestled amongst pretty Monterey pines and other foliage. We had one of the most peaceful nights’ rest we have ever had in a hotel. Pillows and bed were perfect – sheets soft; temperature perfect in the room. We loved using the games room in the basement to play pool and darts. There is even a heated, indoor pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna. Unfortunately, we were unable to use the pool, as there was a children’s swim class going on on Saturday morning. This was our only disappointment with the hotel. Overall, it was a fantastic find, and it is great value for money. It is wonderful to know that there are still family-run places like this, so well-kept and still affordable for families.
